   The Sheikh's Destiny - July 2010

   Excerpt:

Hana washed the worst of the dirt and blood from his hair with a damp washer, coated with some of her precious essential oils, and covered the wound in the cleaned hair and makeup. Then she rolled the man off the sheet, bundled it up and tossed it in the roaring fire. She put the clean shirt on him – he’d been through several operations for those burns, by the patches of grafted skin over the worst of it – buttoned up the shirt, and checked her watch. Four minutes thirty-eight. Not bad, really. She checked over the hut for any signs of wound treatment.

Nothing, thank God. Let them come now...and they would.

Hana dragged in a deep sigh of relief, and finally allowed herself a moment to look at her patient’s face. “No, no,” she whispered, horrified.

She’d known as she ran to save this man’s life that he’d pulled off the impossible today – but the feat suddenly didn’t seem quite so impossible, if he was who she thought he was.

But no – please, God, it can’t be. It had to be a freak physical resemblance...because if he was, then by his mere presence he’d brought far more danger to the village than by any supplies he’d brought.

My Unfair Lady (working title)- Fall 2010

   Excerpt:

“Ms Chase...” Strange that he felt such hesitation in saying what had to be said. He’d asked many a troublesome guest to leave, and had done so with such perfect manners that the said guest left, thinking it had been their own idea to move on.

With Rachel Chase, he couldn’t seem to make his mouth form the words.

“It’s all right, Herr Bollinger,” she said in a resigned tone before he could get the words down pat in his mind. “You want me to leave. This is a private resort, and the last thing your clients want is the entire media of Fleet Street and Tinsel Town camped on your doorstep. I understand. I’ll be gone by tomorrow morning.”

Had she read his mind? The truth of her words snapped him out of the weird trance he’d fallen into, just staring at her face. “Thank you.” Why did the words seem awkward? He had what he wanted without any trouble.

But that was the trouble. Why wasn’t she trying to get her way? From everything he’d read or heard about her, she should be causing trouble for him, using wiles to get whatever she wanted, offering money, throwing tantrums or maybe even trying to seduce him...

His mind completely blanked out at the thought. All he could see was that fresh face smiling as he kissed her, her rounded body not half-piercing him with protruding hips as he –

No. No. He didn’t want this woman. He did not. All he wanted was for her to be gone.
