OUTBACK BABY MIRACLE

"One night with jackaroo Jake Connors leaves veterinary student Laila Robbins pregnant and struggling to maintain her independence. Jake's repeated proposals -- and her family's pointed suggestions that she accept them -- fall on deaf ears. Laila swears she won't marry Jake until he can truthfully say that he's happy about the baby. That isn't likely to happen because of what Jake lost in the past -- a wife and a child. Melissa James' Outback Baby Miracle (3) has an explosive conflict and well-defined characters...

LONG LOST FATHER

"This is a lovely story, told from the heart, and one that brought tears to the eyes of this reviewer. The love and emotion flows thru out this love story with a difference. Immaculately presented, the action flows easily from scene to scene and passion flows off the pages in emotion filled waves. ... The story is refreshingly different, as Brett works hard to rekindle the love that for him has never died. Long-Lost Father unfolds into a beautiful love story that never lacks depth or energy. ...  If you like your reading to challenge and hook you, this reviewer can recommend Ms James latest book."

"Melissa James' Long-Lost Father is a deeply affecting, well-plotted story with a pair of flawed but obviously well-matched lovers." 4 Stars, Romantic Times Bookclub

"Gifted author Melissa James pens a perceptive story about the reuniting of a family with a special needs child in LONG LOST FATHER. I could feel the love shimmering off the pages as I read about Casey and her parents Sam and Brett. They worked together to put Casey first, making sure she knew she was loved and doing what was best for her with her special needs. Brett is my favorite kind of hero, the kind that learns from his mistakes and is sensitive too. Melissa James seizes the reader by the heart and leaves her smiling with satisfaction- Five Stars"

"This novel is filled with much emotion and angst.  Brett is struggling with his wish to have his family back... Sam is finding it difficult to understand why it took her husband so long to come forward... Underneath it all is a realistic portrayal of the challenges faced by a blind child and her parents... The dialogue in this novel is very good and while the focus of the story is narrowly aimed at the new relationship Brett and Sam are trying to forge, it’s a well-written book...  Readers will enjoy this one."

Ms. James has written a book where the characters are attracted to each other, but feel as though they are meant for something different, and instead of abandon their dreams and goals allows them to explore their futures independently. Cinderella’s Lucky Ticket reminded me of fairy tale with a mix of Pygmalion thrown in. I laughed and cried, and cheered for every bit of strength and backbone Lucy picked up along the way. I discovered Ms. James as a debut author, and have to say that she has just gotten better with time. Now, I hope she continues to explore this new side of her personality, the one that allows her to write romantic comedy. Four Roses

DANGEROUS ILLUSION

Nighthawk commander Brendan McCall finds himself both protecting and investigating a woman he believes might be the true love he lost to arms and drug dealer Robert Falcone 10 years ago. New Zealand potter Elizabeth Silver is a woman with secrets, but is she the love he left behind? Whoever she is, she needs help. Falcone is coming to take her and the young son he believes is his. Filled with nonstop adventure, breathtaking twists, a strong yet vulnerable hero and a woman who must risk everything, Melissa James' DANGEROUS ILLUSION (4.5 Stars, Top Pick) will delight readers looking for a combination of romance and suspense.

Dangerous Illusions has just about everything a good romantic suspense novel should: complex characters, plenty of passion, a lot of emotion, taut action sequences, manipulation, betrayals, sustained tension and a strong heroine... I was sucked in from the beginning... The middle section of the book brings out the best in the heroine, who proves she's not all talk. I did love her scathing comments toward those she felt were manipulating her, but she's also physically tough and a fighter, with some tricks up her sleeve. It's easy to understand why Brendan's colleagues begin to suspect she's an agent too. This is the kind of meaty series book that feels like a much longer book. By the end it did feel as if the author had covered much more ground in the plot and romance because of the way she really digs into each. The spy elements are edgy and believable and the action sequences are effective...Melissa James does have the goods to write compelling espionage romances, full of passion and action...

On a search-and-rescue mission Tal is severely injured, and Mary-Anne is contacted by superiors to go to Tal and convince him to work with her to apprehend the person responsible for his injuries. Can You Forget? is a perfect example of the appeal of the Intimate Moments line. It is a taut and emotional read that will leave readers caught in its grip while providing them with a love story filled with sizzling sexual tension and steamy love scenes. Ms. James’ forte, however, is her ability to create wonderfully complex characters. The issues from Tallan and Mary-Anne’s past serve to heighten the emotional conflict. There are moments of gentleness between the hero and heroine that make this story a very special one. Watching Mary-Anne look beyond Tallan’s scars and seeing the goodness and nobility of this special hero is sure to move the most cynical of readers. With only three books to her credit, Australian author Melissa has already become one of Silhouette Intimate Moments’ favorite authors. Can You Forget? is romantic suspense at its best! Ms. James sure knows how to tug at the heartstrings!

WHO DO YOU TRUST?

WHO DO YOU TRUST? is a deeply emotional story that will make you laugh one moment and cry the next. Watching Lissa and Mitch find their way back to each other, past the betrayals, the fears and mistrust will touch the reader on many levels. This is the first book in Ms. James series, THE NIGHTHAWKS, and I know I am anxious to read more about the men and women we meet in this book that are part of the secret organization. Melissa James is a fabulous writer who speaks from her heart straight to the heart of the reader. The roller coaster of emotions and suspense in this book had me on the edge of my seat wishing the adventure never had to end.

In her second book for Intimate Moments, Australian writer Melissa James begins her Nighthawk series about a group of highly trained, fiercely dedicated, undercover operatives. Who Do You Trust? is a very intense and forceful story written in a no-holds-barred style. It convincingly portrays the underbelly of political turmoil, the plight of refugees, and the painful results that lifestyle can have on a family. Ms. James also shows her readers the very powerful and miraculous effect of love.

Melissa James left me in suspense with a story that definitely wasn’t predictable. With a slow start, which allowed me to ease into the story, the danger, the mistrust and the sexual tension, she then went on to hit me hard, fast and with no mercy. Keeping me captive on every page and cheering on Melissa and Mitch. No matter if during their sessions of pseudo-sex or their run through the Jungle. Who Do You Trust? is not a pretty story, but full of anger, violent feelings and cravings. It’s real. At least it feels real! It’s very deep, very satisfying and very much a book I love and want to recommend. Five Roses

HER GALAHAD

The story that unfolds is one of adventure, betrayal, and the rediscovery of true love. It's also a story of Tessa learning to believe in herself, and make decisions based on her new discoveries of her personal strengths. This is the debut book by Melissa James, and if future books contain the action, and character development of this book she will continue to be an auto buy author for me.

Reviewed by Sandi Shilhanek, The Best Reviews

First time Silhouette author Melissa James packs an emotional wallop with a plot that is unusual enough to hold the interest of the most seasoned suspense fan.  She will have her readers long remembering not only her characters but also the Australia she obviously loves.  A less skilled writer would have spent the next hundred pages with tons of inner dialogue agonizing over the cruel caprice of fate, and reveling in their mutual distrust; however, this author powerfully and carefully demonstrates their feelings the hard way, by actions and reactions. Tessa and Jirrah eventually start with a tentative truce in their joint search for their daughter. Jirrah knows finding their child will forever destroy any chance of a relationship since it will prove the culpability of her father and brother, Then there is the emotionally frozen Tessa who only gradually thaws. If these problems are not sufficient, there is the mixed race issue that is subtly in the background. Beautiful dialogue, complex plots and subplots, exquisitely described settings that shift seamlessly around deftly developed characters are generally the trademarks of experienced authors. Remember the name Melissa James, you will be reading her again.
